Date: 15th – 16th September 2022

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you to participate in the 8th Conference of the Polish Brachytherapy Society. The nationwide event organized by us takes place every two years.

The PBS conference is where you can meet people dedicated to clinical and scientific work who impact the standards of oncological management.

The conference will be held on September 15-16, 2022 at the Mercure Centrum Wrocław hotel at Plac Dominikański 1 in Wrocław. It is a place that will provide comfort to guests from Poland and from abroad. The fee includes participation in the conference and satellite events. The motto of our meeting is: “Full steam ahead! – effectiveness, precision, brachytherapy“, emphasizing the efficient role of brachytherapy in oncological care in Poland.

Scientific patronage over the event will include the Director of the Lower Silesian Center of Oncology, Pulmonology and Hematology, Dr hab. n. med. Adam Maciejczyk and the Director of the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology Gliwice Branch, Prof. dr hab. n. med. Krzysztof Składowski, who is also a national consultant in the field of radiation oncology.

Planned sessions, conducted in English and Polish, will have a training and clinical-scientific character. Doctors and scientists from major European centres will present their results. The sessions will be interdisciplinary. The conference will have a hybrid form. However, two workshop sessions will be available only to on-site participants. The first special session entitled: “Crew to positions! – modern applications in brachytherapy: cervical cancer, skin cancer” will concern the use of modern applicators for HDR brachytherapy. As part of the introduction, we will discuss the theoretical basis of the applications, the latest clinical trials and the possibilities of using applicators in patients. The rest of the session will be practical. The second special session, entitled “All hands on deck! – an interdisciplinary approach to a patient with M0 / M1 castration-resistant prostate cancer“, will concern the B56 drug program.

In Poland, over 12,000 patients are treated annually with brachytherapy. It is used in the treatment of prostate cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, gynaecological tumours and other oncological diseases. It has proven effectiveness and is very often necessary to cure the patient. Our event will be an ideal place to exchange experiences between representatives of the scientific, academic, pharmaceutical and technological communities from all over the country.

The event will be live-streamed. Don’t miss the chance to join us.
